Non-Smoking Policy – Compliance with Portuguese Law
In accordance with Portuguese law (Law No. 37/2007, of 14 August, and subsequent amendments), smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes (vaping) are strictly prohibited throughout the entire building of Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments. This includes:
- Private rooms
- Dormitories
- Toilets
- Common areas
- Balconies
- Patio
We are a 100% smoke-free hostel, and failure to comply with this policy may result in penalties, including immediate expulsion without refund.
For guests who wish to smoke, there is a designated smoking area across the street by the handrail. Please do not smoke under the building’s balconies, as open doors or windows allow smoke to enter apartments and dormitories, disturbing other guests.
We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for everyone.
Battery Charging Policy – Fire Safety Notice
For the safety of all guests and staff, charging any type of power bank, drone or e-bike batteries inside the hostel or leaving them unattended while charging is strictly prohibited due to the risk of explosion and fire. If you need to charge such batteries, please contact the reception, where designated charging facilities may be available.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in the immediate removal of the device and further actions as deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the premises. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for everyone. By staying at Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments, guests acknowledge and accept this policy.
Liability Disclaimer for Personal Belongings
Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings inside the hostel premises, including but not limited to dormitories, private rooms, apartments, common areas, or storage facilities.
Guests are responsible for the safekeeping of their personal items and are encouraged to use the available security measures, such as lockers. It is advised not to leave valuables unattended.
By staying at Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments, guests acknowledge and accept that the hostel shall not be held liable for any missing, lost, or stolen property under any circumstances.
For security concerns, guests may report any incidents to the reception, but the hostel assumes no obligation to provide compensation or recovery of lost items. By staying at Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments, guests acknowledge and accept this policy.
Guest Identification & Registration Policy
In compliance with Portuguese law (Law No. 23/2007, of 4 July, and subsequent amendments), all guests with a reservation at Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments are required to present a valid identification document (passport, national ID card, or residence permit) upon check-in.
This mandatory registration is part of the legal obligations for accommodation providers in Portugal and is required for communication with the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF). Failure to provide the necessary identification may result in the inability to complete the check-in process a related admission.
Guest Conduct Policy – Compliance with Portuguese Law
In accordance with Portuguese law (Decree-Law No. 39/2008, of 7 March, and subsequent amendments), guests staying at Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments are expected to respect the peace and well-being of all other guests and staff.
Any guest who disturbs others, engages in disruptive behavior, or is found under the influence of drugs or excessive alcohol may be subject to immediate removal from the premises. Furthermore, if such behavior is exhibited by one or more individuals within a group reservation, the entire group may be expelled, and the remaining nights of the reservation will be cancelled without refund.
The hostel reserves the right to take appropriate measures to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all guests. By staying at Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments, guests acknowledge and accept this policy.
Use of Business Address and Correspondence Policy
The business address of Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments may not be used for any purpose, including registrations, correspondence, or deliveries, without prior written authorisation.
Any mail, packages, or correspondence received without prior approval may be returned to the sender or may be discarded at our discretion. Happy Porto Hostel & Apartments is not responsible for handling or storing unauthorised deliveries.
